Energy Stewards, http://www.energystewards.net/we/, is a We Energies sponsored program for religious congregations, non-profit organizations and private schools that want to take action to improve their building energy efficiency, reducing financial and environmental costs. Through introductory workshops, expert advice, special incentives and shared learning, Energy Stewards Non-Profits has assisted over 450 organizations in cutting financial and environmental costs with energy efficient furnaces, lighting, insulation and more. The program is supported through a collaboration of Interfaith Earth Network, Wisconsin Interfaith Power and Light (Formerly Wisconsin Interfaith Climate and Energy Campaign), Rapid Improvement Associates of Wisconsin and We Energies. Faith community involvement in this collaborative initiative was established a number of years ago by Wisconsin Interfaith Climate and Energy Campaign. It has recently been revitalized and expanded to include the southeast Wisconsin based Interfaith Earth Network, associated with the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee. Energy sources are one of the gifts of which we are called to responsible stewardship as we discern what actions are appropriate. While stewardship of creation varies in practice and language among our faith communities, it shares a common thread. All religions honor the gifts that the creator provides and urge us to use these gifts wisely. Congregations in the Metropolitan Milwaukee area and the We Energies customer service territories are eligible for participation in this program. Contact Anthony Taylor, Sr. Community Outreach Specialist, Energy Incentives from We Energies, 888-603-5519, to register. Or visit the website, http://www.energystewards.net/we/, to enroll your congregation. |
